Why worship?

Our Heavenly Father calls us to worship him in Spirit and Truth. As we draw close to him, he draws close to us, and offers us the greatest gift a person could ever receive: intimate friendship with a Holy God. This is a thrilling experience and at times a little scary, too, because when we worship we tell the Creator of the universe what we think about him. And we also pause to learn from him as we pay careful attention to his Words of instruction to us. Paying attention to God, telling him in music what we think about him, how we feel about him, and listening to his Word to us honors God.

Our response to such a great Savior is deep gratitude, joy and humility, love and obedience. Our hearts warm up into passionate love for God. Our resistance to God melts and we surrender—again and again—to his leadership in our lives. Our music and singing is a response to God. It expresses our love, submission and respect for God and involves our whole person: spirit, mind, will, body, emotion, money, time, decisions, dreams, goals and lifestyles.

The inner change of his new life entering our hearts results in a changed lifestyle: we start to live our lives the way Jesus would live them if he were us. And we begin to want to obey God and his Word.

Mission

Our overall mission and purpose of the Worship Ministry of Faith Promise Church is to provide tools for engagement of the hearts of men and women to the heart of God in an environment of authentic contemporary worship and to glorify God through music and to strengthen our church's ability to encounter Jesus Christ in worship, to evangelize the pre-Christian, disciple believers, minister to those in need, and fellowship together.

Our goal is to be in tune with God's direction for our church, and to allow music to minister to the Knoxville community of faith while seeking creative and innovative ways and to use every form of media to achieve this goal.

Our Worship Ministry includes Band, Choir, Drama and Dance which are prepared to illustrate the theme and message of upcoming services. This is an exciting ministry to get involved in.

Each service basically starts with a half hour of contemporary worship music that centers on God. We hope it inspires you and helps you "spiritually connect" with God…. And no fumbling with songbooks! All the words are on a big screen and easy to see. So join in, sit back and enjoy, but either way open your heart to experience the power and holy love of Jesus Christ.
